Govt arrests BNP people thru block raids: Fakhrul

Opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday asserted that the law enforcement bureaus have been arresting BNP leaders and activists throughout the nation through obstruct raids. Our leaders and activists are being forced to stay beyond their houses at night,' Fakhrul stated covering a virtual discussion. Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD organised the occasion to talk about the role of the local government bodies in combating the Covid crisis. Fakhrul reported that the government is asserting that people connected to the BNP were arrested for their connection with Hefazat-e-Islam. 'BNP doesn't have connections with Hefazat. Instead the government is extremely close to Hefazat,' he said, adding the government has established a rule of terror. 'Several thousands of leaders of the BNP and its partner bodies were detained since March 26,' he explained. In addition, he added the'failed authorities' turn the nation into a'police state'. The government has failed to suppress the coronavirus propagate and now there was a doubt regarding the vaccination programme, he explained. The choice to gather vaccines from one source was incorrect, he said and urged all involved to unite and find a way out of this crisis. JSD president ASM Rob reported that there were not any steps to involve the country's people in the fight against Covid-19. He urged the authorities to ensure people's participation in the fight against the deadly virus. Among others, JSD overall secretary Shahid Uddin Mahmud Sawpon along with Sushasoner Jonno Nagarik secretary Badiul Alam Majumder spoke in the programme.
